Privacy Policy
Last updated August 2026
This policy explains what information ClipZips ("we," "us") collects when you use clipzips.com and app.clipzips.com (the "Service"), and how we use it. We built this to be plain and accurate to what the Service actually does, not boilerplate.
What we collect
- Account information. When you sign in with Google, we receive your email address, name, and profile picture from Google. We use this to create and identify your account - we never see or store your Google password.
- Uploaded content. The podcast episodes or videos you upload, so we can process them into clips. This includes the audio/video file itself and the transcript generated from it.
- Connected social accounts. If you connect Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, or TikTok to publish clips, we store the connection needed to post on your behalf via our publishing partner, Upload-Post. We don't store your social media passwords.
- Billing information. If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is handled entirely by Stripe - we never see or store your card number. We keep a record of your subscription status and which plan you're on.
- Usage information. Basic account activity (like when you last uploaded an episode) needed to enforce plan limits.
- Fraud prevention. When you upload on the Free plan, we record your IP address and browser type. This is used only to detect obvious abuse of the Free plan's monthly limit (like signing up for repeated new accounts to avoid it) - it's never used for advertising or shared with anyone outside what's needed to run the Service.
How we use it
Solely to operate the Service: transcribing your episodes, identifying and rendering clips, generating captions, and publishing to the platforms you've connected. We do not sell your personal information or uploaded content to anyone, for any reason.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of third-party services to actually run ClipZips, each only for the specific job below:
- Google - sign-in.
- AssemblyAI - transcribing uploaded audio/video.
- Anthropic - identifying which moments in your transcript make good clips.
- Upload-Post - publishing clips to your connected social accounts.
- Stripe - processing payments for paid plans.
Your uploaded content is sent to these providers only as needed to perform these specific tasks, not for any other purpose.
Data retention and deletion
Uploaded episodes and rendered clips are kept in your account so you can access, re-render, or publish them. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at the address below.
Cookies
We use a single session cookie to keep you signed in. We don't use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
Children's privacy
ClipZips is not directed at, and we do not knowingly collect information from, anyone under 13.
